Puerto Rico
Echoes from San Juan to Caguas
A 20-minute instrumental journey across Puerto Rico in one continuous arc, from the salsa-and-reggaetón heat of San Juan to the jíbaro mountain dignity of Caguas. No vocals; pure instrumental storytelling.
Each track is composed from the music of its place: the reggaetón ground zero and Santurce bomba revival of the capital San Juan; the panderetas and danza of Ponce, plena capital and pride of the south; the dancer-drummer bomba fire of Loíza, Afro-Puerto Rican heartland of the Festival de Santiago; the cuatro-led danza and jíbaro warmth of the western university city of Mayagüez; and the décima poetry and trovador tradition of the interior valley town of Caguas.
