Paraguay — Soundport Project

A 26-minute instrumental journey across Paraguay — 7 cities in one continuous arc, from the harp-driven guarania of Asuncion to the triple-border fusion of Ciudad del Este. No vocals; pure instrumental storytelling.

Each track is composed from the music of its place: the birthplace of guarania and the cascading arpa paraguaya of Asuncion; the lakeside nostalgia of Aregua on the shore of Lake Ypacarai, where the world's most beloved guarania was born; the luthier workshops of Luque, where harps are handcrafted and the polca paraguaya runs fast and proud; the poetic guarania of Villarrica, the "Athens of Paraguay" and home of lyricist Manuel Ortiz Guerrero; the Jesuit-Guarani Baroque mission roots of Trinidad, a UNESCO World Heritage ruin; the carnival rhythms and Jesuit-mission echo of Encarnacion on the Brazilian border; and the cross-cultural blend of Ciudad del Este, where three countries meet at the edge of the falls.
