Croatia
Echoes from Split to Dubrovnik
A 45-minute instrumental journey across Croatia — 10 cities in one continuous arc, from the klapa harmonies of Split to the Renaissance lute of Dubrovnik. No vocals; pure instrumental storytelling.
Each track is composed from the music of its place: the Dalmatian klapa polyphony of Split, ringing in the stone of Diocletian's Palace; the ceremonial Moreška sword-dance brass of Korčula, the album's lone martial fanfare; the melancholic Međimurska popevka of Čakovec, cimbalom and drone zither over the northern plain; the wave-played Sea Organ of Zadar, pipe-organ chords breathing with the Adriatic; the archaic ojkanje shaking-voice drone of the Plitvice hinterland; and the eerie raised-fourth Istrian scale of Rovinj, sopele and bagpipe unlike anything else in Europe.
