Cambodia — Soundport Project

A 26-minute instrumental journey across Cambodia in one continuous arc, from the golden-era roneat of Phnom Penh to the Mekong river-folk of Kratie. No vocals; pure instrumental storytelling.

Each track is composed from the music of its place: the 1960s golden-era epicenter of Phnom Penh, where the chapei dong veng lute and Farfisa-ghost organ carry a bittersweet, post-genocide revival; the full ceremonial pinpeat of Angkor at Siem Reap, roneats and gong-circles interlocking in stone-temple resonance; the arts-revival warmth of Battambang, home of the Phare Ponleu Selpak circus, where tro fiddle and khim dulcimer turn communal resilience into joy; the faded French-colonial charm of riverside Kampot, fingerpicked guitar drifting through Bokor-mountain haze; and the Cham-Khmer crossroads of Kratie, where the rebab spike-fiddle and ginang drums fade out over the timeless Mekong.
